Rowland tabbed Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week

SAN ANTONIO — Senior Kendra Rowland was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Rowland helped guide UTSA to a pair of home wins last week, including a sweep of Sam Housron State on Thursday and four-set victory against Stephen F. Austin two days later. The Antioch, Calif., native posted her team-leading 12th and 13th double-doubles in the two triumphs. Rowland posted 16 kills and 16 digs against the Bearkats and ended the week with 19 and 15 against the Ladyjacks. She averaged five kills per set, while hitting at a .242 clip, and her 4.43 digs per frame helped the Roadunners hold their two opponents to a .142 hitting percentage.

UTSA (19-9, 13-1 SLC) is in the midst of the nation's ninth-longest active winning streak at 12 matches and the Birds already have clinched the Southland's West Division title. They return to action on Thursday night at I-35 rival Texas State (17-11, 10-4 SLC). First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Strahan Coliseum.
