Roadrunners finish sixth at Alamo Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — Battling winds that were gusting more than 20 miles per hour, the UTSA women’s golf team wrapped up its fall campaign on Tuesday with a sixth-place performance (298-293-300=891) at the Alamo Invitational.

Junior Summer Batiste led the Roadrunners with a 222 (77-71-74), which was good for 13th place. The Spring native, who shot a final-round 74, was even par on the front nine with a pair of birdies before bogeys on Nos. 14 and 16 brought her to two over for the day.

Fellow junior Shannon Jungman completed her most successful outing of the fall with a 223 (72-74-77) and tied for 17th. Jungman recorded birdies on Nos. 3 and 7 to go out at one-over-par.

Freshman Fabiola Arriaga recorded a pair of birdies on Nos. 11 and 13 and finished tied for 24th (77-73-75=225), while freshman Taylor Newlin finished 28th (74-77-76=226).

Sophomore Paola Valerio bounced back with a 75 and wrapped up the three-day event in 43rd place (74-82-75=231).
