AUSTIN — Freshmen Yannick Junger and Kolby Kilgo paced the UTSA men's tennis team at last weekend's Texas Invitational.
Junger and Kilgo teamed up to claim the Roadrunners' only doubles victory after knocking off Lamar's Diego Snyder and Carlos Valdenebro, 9-7. The duo dropped its second-round affair with Christian Blocker and Santiago Nieto of Miami (Fla.), 8-5.
Junger also highlighted the team's singles efforts.
After falling in the B Draw opening round, the Stuttgart, Germany native collected a 6-3, 6-1 win against Lamar's Devin Harley in the consolation bracket. Junger's tournament came to an end after dropping a 7-6, 7-6 decision to Rice's Andy Wang.
The Roadrunners were unable to muster any other victories at the event, but Kilgo pushed Lamar's Dusan Savkovic to three sets before falling in a tie-breaker (6-1, 4-6, 7-6 [5]).
