ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Led by a 40th-place showing from sophomore Nicko Dodd, the UTSA men’s golf team finished 16th at the William H. Tucker Invitational on Saturday.
Dodd fired a one-over-par 73 to round out a 54-hole total of 11-over 227 (79-75-73). His final 18 included two birdies and an eagle two on the par four 12th and he finished the tournament with five birdies.
Freshman Ryan Werre tied for 67th with a 236 (74-78-84), while senior Lewis Chong tied for 79th with a 241 (78-80-83). Junior Payne Wilkie carded a 242 (83-78-81) to tie for 82nd and sophomore Mitchell Griffin turned in a 248 (79-81-88) to finish 87th.
Meanwhile, the Roadrunners carded a 321 on Saturday and finished with a three-round total of 942 (310-311-321).
San Diego State won the team title with an 874 (291-292-291), followed by North Texas (295-281-299=875) and New Mexico (292-288-296=876).
New Mexico State's Joon Heui Lee, North Texas' Carlos Ortiz and Pepperdine's Andrew Putnam tied for individual medalist honors at four-under 212.
The Roadrunners will take next week off before hosting the second annual Lone Star Invitational from Oct. 17-18 at Briggs Ranch Golf Club.
