SAN ANTONIO — Sophomore Martin Ayala and senior Max Stratmann each won championship matches of their respective brackets on Sunday at the UTSA Invitational.
Ayala defeated Texas A&M's Austin Klores in straight sets (6-0, 6-1) to win the Singles A Draw title The Quito, Ecaudor, native advanced to the final after a straight-sets win (6-2, 7-6 [3]) against John Lewis (Texas A&M) in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Stratmann needed three sets to claim the Singles B Draw championship match against junior teammate Daniel Moser (6-4, 3-6, 6-3). The Bonn, Germany, native moved into the final after taking down Texas A&M's Calon Alpar in straight sets (6-4, 6-0).
Sophomore Tyler Brown won the compass draw of the A bracket after defeating a pair of teammates in straight sets. Brown moved past freshman Yannick Junger (7-5, 6-4) and senior Daniel Moreiras (6-1, 6-3) for the championship.
The final day of doubles action was canceled.
UTSA will return to the court on Saturday, Oct. 23 for the four-day Wilson/ITA Regional in College Station.
