TULSA, Okla. — The UTSA men’s tennis team saw three players advance to the second round of pre-qualifying matches at last weekend's ITA/D’Novo All-American Championships.
Sophomore Tyler Brown led the Roadrunners with a straight-sets victory against Cleveland State's Matt Kuelkerin (6-2, 6-2). Brown then fell to Pacific's Ivan Castro in a three-set tiebreaker (1-6, 7-6 [5], 7-5).
Senior Daniel Morieras dropped a 6-0, 7-6 (6) decision to Duke's Fred Saba after receiving a first-round bye. Sophomore Martin Ayala, who also received a bye, lost in the second round to Denver's Fabio Biasion in straight sets (6-1, 6-3). Senior Max Stratmann fell to Tennessee's Max Stevens in the first round, 6-1, 6-0.
The Roadrunners returns to action on Friday when they host the two-day UTSA Invitational.
