FRISCO — Seniors Chelsea Zimmerman and Allison Dillon collected Preseason All-Southland Conference first-team and second-team honors, respectively, while UTSA was predicted to finish fourth in both the Coaches and Sports Information Directors Preseason Polls, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Zimmerman, who was a second-team all-conference honoree last season, ranked second on the team with 12 points and four assists last fall for the Roadrunners, who ended the year 9-10-2 overall and 4-3-2 in the league. The Mansfield native currently ranks second on UTSA’s all-time list with 12 assists and third with 40 points and 14 goals.
Dillon, who collected second-team All-Southland honors in 2009, led the team with six assists and ranked second on the squad with half dozen goals last season. The Yorba Linda, Calif., native is the program’s all-time career leader in points (62), goals (23) and assists (16).
The Roadrunners collected 51 votes in the coaches rankings and 52 from the SIDs. Defending Regular Season Champion Texas State is the preseason favorite in both polls.
UTSA kicks off its 2010 season next Friday, Aug. 20, when it takes on Alcorn State at the Lady Panthers Classic in Prairie View.
