Freshman Samantha Beeson hit the first home run of her career on Saturday.SAN ANTONIO —
The UTSA softball team fell in Saturday's series finale with Southeastern Louisiana by a score of 5-2 at Roadrunner Field. The victory was the Lady Lions' first in the Alamo City since the 2003 campaign.
UTSA fell to 12-24 overall and 8-10 in Southland Conference play, while Southeastern improved to 6-21 and 2-11 in league action.
The Lady Lions scored the first two runs of the contest on a second-inning RBI single by Amber Freeman and another run-scoring base hit in the fifth by Jordan Logan.
UTSA was held scoreless through the first five innings, but freshman Samantha Beeson launched a pinch-hit two-run homer to left center to draw the Birds even, but the tie was short lived.
Southeastern Louisiana got a lead-off solo home run off the bat of Tamara Ladnier in the seventh and two more insurance runs later in the frame on a two-run single by Katelyn Thomason.
Kati Morse (1-6) went the distance for the Lady Lions and struck out six in picking up her first win of the campaign.
Junior Emily Humpal (6-12) was charged with the loss after allowing three runs on five hits in 1.2 relief panels.
The Roadrunners return to action Saturday, April 10, at Central Arkansas.
