SAN ANTONIO — UTSA women’s basketball head coach Rae Rippetoe-Blair announced on Tuesday the addition of Ashley Gardner (North Little Rock, Ark./North Little Rock HS/Arkansas Baptist College) for the 2010-11 season.
“Ashley is a great addition to our program,” Rippetoe-Blair said. “She will add depth to our roster and also can play guard or forward. I think she will be a key player for us next season.”
Gardner, a 6-0 guard/forward, helped Arkansas Baptist College to a 22-7 overall record and to the NJCAA Region 2 Finals this past season. The North Little Rock, Ark., native played in 29 games and averaged 16.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, which ranked second the team. She led the Buffaloes in 3-point field goal percentage at 45.1 a clip and registered the second-best shooting percentage on the team (48.3).
She played one season at Paris Junior College, where she appeared in 10 games during the 2008-09 season. Gardner averaged 7.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game for head coach Sean LeBeauf’s squad.
