Freshman Kavya Menon won her team-leading eighth singles contest of the year on Saturday.
SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women’s tennis team fell 6-1 against McNeese State on Saturday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners dropped to 4-15 on the season and 1-9 in Southland Conference play, while the Cowgirls improved to 8-6 overall and 4-4 in league action.
McNeese State won two of the three doubles matches for the early 1-0 lead.
Freshmen Kavya Menon and Mariel Maffezzolli gave the Birds a slim lead with their 8-4 win at No. 2, but the Cowgirls picked up a pair of 9-7 victories at Nos. 1 and 3 to claim the point.
McNeese then won five of the six matches to secure the victory.
Menon won her team-leading eighth contest of the season with a 7-6, 6-4 triumph against Victoria Martinez at the No. 2 slot.
UTSA wraps up its regular season on Saturday, April 10, against Nicholls.
