Freshman Martin Ayala collected a 7-6, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles on Friday.
SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men’s tennis fell 5-2 against Oregon on Friday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners saw their record drop to 4-5 on the season, while the Ducks improved to 11-3.
Oregon began the match by winning two of the three doubles matches for the early 1-0 lead.
Freshman Tyler Brown and junior Max Stratmann won their match, 8-5, against Aaron Clissold and Douglas Mayeda at the No. 3 position, but the Ducks rallied with a pair of 8-6 wins at Nos. 1 and 2 to secure the point.
After a 30-minute rain delay, the Ducks claimed four of the six matches.
Clissold put Oregon up 2-0 via a default at the No. 5 spot. Duncan MacDonald made it 3-0 with his straight-sets win 6-2, 6-1) at the No. 6 slot, while Alexander Comelissen clinched the match for the Ducks at the top spot with his 6-2, 6-3 win against Brown. Senior Rodrigo Morgado and freshman Martin Ayala also were in action and they collected wins to account for the final score.
UTSA continues its current five-match home stand against UAB on Saturday. First serve is slated for 10 a.m.
