Sophomore Caitlyn Ivy's three-run home run in the seventh gave UTSA its 10th win of the season on Sunday.

ARLINGTON — Sophomore Caitlyn Ivy slugged a three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to help lift UTSA to a 6-5 victory against UT Arlington on Sunday afternoon at Allan Saxe Field.

Trailing 4-3 in their final at-bat, the Roadrunners rallied to salvage game three of the Southland Conference series and improve to 10-21 overall and 6-9 in the league. The Mavericks fell to 17-15 and 8-6.

Senior Rudi Cantu was hit by a pitch with one out and sophomore Ashley Kappler drew a walk to put a pair of Roadrunners on base. Ivy then sent a Teri Lyles offering over the fence in left-center field to give UTSA a 6-4 advantage.

The Mavericks made things interesting in the bottom of the seventh, as Kelsey Kaiser singled up the middle, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and score on a two-out base hit to left by Cara Hulme. Junior Danye Holmes, who went the distance, got a flyout to end the game and run her record to 4-7 on the year. The Sugar Land struck out two and allowed four earned runs on six hits and also went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs at the plate.

UTA jumped out to an early lead on a three-run home run by Samantha Chumchal in the bottom of the first.

UTSA got one run back in the top of the second, as senior Krista Sitka doubled — one of two hits on the afternoon for the Houston native and scored on an error in left field off the bat of sophomore Nikki Goff.

The Roadrunners knotted the score at 3-all in the next frame, as Holmes homered to center field with Cantu on base after a base hit.

However, Rebecca Collom broke the tie with a solo home run in the bottom of the third.

Lyles took the loss in relief for the Mavericks, allowing three runs on two hits in 4.1 panels to fall to 9-9 on the season.

UTSA will host nationally-ranked Texas in a non-conference twinbill on Tuesday, March 30. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. at Roadrunner Field.
