Junior Max Stratmann's three-set win gave UTSA a 4-3 win on Tuesday.
NEW ORLEANS, La. — The UTSA men’s tennis team fell behind 1-0, but it rallied to win four of the six singles matches to complete a 4-3 win at Tulane on Tuesday afternoon.
The Roadrunners improved to 7-6 on the season, while the Green Wave fell to 3-5.
Tulane won two of the three doubles matches for the early 1-0 lead.
The senior-freshman combo of Rodrigo Morgado and Martin Ayala put the Bird on top with their 8-5 win at the top seed, but the Green Wave collected victories at Nos. 2 and 3 positions to secure the point.
In singles action, UTSA were triumphant four of the six matches to seal the match.
Senior Jorge Delgado collected his team-leading eighth win of the season when he knocked off Trevor Getz 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 6 slot. Junior Daniel Moreiras’ straight-sets win (6-4, 7-6) at No. 5 made it a 2-1 advantage. Joe Young tied things up with his 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win at No. 2. Morgado’s 6-4, 7-6 victory at No. 3 put the Roadrunners bck in front, the Green Wave tied the contest again after Shaye Wali defeated freshman Tyler Brown, 1-6, 7-5, 7-5, at the top spot.
The match would be decided at the No. 4 position. Junior Max Stratmann dropped the first set 6-4 to Rodrigo Rappacciloi, but he battled back to win the next two frames, giving the Roadrunners the one-point win.
UTSA concludes the first leg of its nine-match road trip on Thursday at Nicholls. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m.
