SAN ANTONIO — UTSA dropped a 6-1 decision to UT Arlington on Saturday morning at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners (3-8, 0-4 SLC) remained in search of ther first Southland victory of the spring, while the Mavericks extended their perfect start to the league slate (3-0) and now are 3-3 on the year.
Although UTSA won at the No. 1 doubles spot, UTA swept the bottom two matches to clinch the point.
In singles play, Monika Hadvigerova downed freshman Kavya Menon, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 3 spot and the lead swelled to three when sophomore Micaela Silva fell to Klara Jagosova at the No. 1 position, 4-6, 3-6.
The Roadrunners got on the scoreboard when Dalana Negreanu defaulted at the No. 5 spot to give freshman Sarah Adams a victory. Junior Caroline Dedering rallied into a tiebreaker at the No. 2 spot, but she couldn't outlast Katarina Micochova and fell, 7-5, 4-6, 10-8.
UTA's trimuphs at the Nos. 4 and 6 spots secured the victory.
UTSA will return to the court at 11 a.m. on Sunday to face I-35 rival Texas State.
