Sophomore Katie Ottenbreit was the lone Roadrunner to win a match on Sunday.
NACOGDOCHES — The UTSA women’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at Stephen F. Austin on Sunday.
The Roadrunners dropped to 3-6 on the season and 0-2 in Southland Conference play, while the Ladyjacks improved to 6-1 and 2-0 in the league.
SFA got things started by winning all three doubles matches.
The Ladyjacks took that momentum into singles action and won five of the six contests in straight sets.
The lead swelled to 2-0 when Alice Pacaut collected a 6-2, 6-1 win against freshman Sarah Adams at the No. 5 position. Sophomore Katie Ottenbreit cut the deficit in half with her straight-set win (7-6, 6-0) at No. 6. However, Stephen F. Austin sealed the match when Roxana Enica and Paola Muntuenga came off the court with victories at the Nos. 1 and 3 slots, respectively.
The Birds begin a three-match home stand on Tuesday, March 2, against Southeastern Louisiana. First serve is slated for 10 a.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center.
