NEW BRAUNFELS – Freshman Nicko Dodd fired a pir of 73s on Monday at the JL Lewis Intercollegiate and posted the first top-five finish of his career to lead the UTSA men’s golf team at the weather-shortened JL Lewis Intercollegiate.
Dodd, who finished tied for fifth, registered five birdies and one eagle on the day, The Sugar Land native finished four strokes behind North Texas’ Peter Fallon, who collected the individual crown with a 68-74—142 (E).
The Roadrunners turned in rounds of 316-309 (625) and wrapped up thetournament in 10th place. North Texas captured the team title with a585 (290-295).
Senior Emiliano Martinez ended his first round tied for 42nd, but he moved up 12 spots to finish tied for 30th with scores of 81-74 (155). Meanwhile, freshman Mitchell Griffin concluded his event four shots behind Martinez with a 159.
UTSA heads to Laredo for the Border Olympics on March 5-6.
