Women?s basketball adds Thorman for the 2010-11 season

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head coach Rae Rippetoe-Blair announced on Thursday the addition of Lyndi Thorman, who has transferred from Western Illinois University, for the 2010-11 season. Thorman, a sophomore. will be eligible after the fall semester.

Thorman appeared in all 30 games, while making four starts during the 2008-09 season. The Macomb, Ill., native averaged 4.9 points per game and 3.4 rebounds per game that same year. She was one of three players to record over 100 points and 100 rebounds last season. Thorman led the team with 23 blocked shots, which tied for 6th all-time in a single season. She also ended the year shooting 40.7 percent (59-of-145) from the floor. She recorded her only double-double of the season (16 points/10 rebounds) in the 76-52 win against Centenary on Jan. 19, 2009.

Thorman was Macomb High School’s all-time leader in points and blocked shots. In her senior season, Thorman was named Terry Kennedy Most Outstanding Player and the Macomb Downtown Athletic Club’s MVP. She led the team to 34 straight Olympic Conference wins. Thorman also participated in volleyball and earned academic all-conference honors.
