FRISCO — More than 700 student-athletes were named to the Capital One Bank/Southland Conference Commissioner’s Fall Honor Roll, the league office announced on Wednesday.
UTSA placed 38 student-athletes on the annuallist. Leading the way for the Roadrunners were Southland Women's Cross Country Newcomer of the Year Pernilla Savestrand, graduate student in UTSA's College of Business (mangement-marketing), and third-team ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District VI selection Chelsea Zimmerman (soccer/business). Meanwhile, Bonnie Caulfield (soccer/interdisciplinary studies), Katie Dugan (soccer/biology), Kelsey Jewasko (volleyball/interdisciplinary studies), Cole Reveal (men's cross country/mathematics), Kelsey Schwirtlich (volleyball/mechanical engineering), Kari Weiland (soccer/accounting) and Dominick Zucconi (men's cross country/marketing) all posted perfect 4.0 grade-point averages during the semester.
All told, 20 soccer players wererecognized along with seven men's cross country student-athletes, a half dozen volleyball, players and five members of the women's cross country squad.
Stephen F. Austin led all league schools with 81 honorees.
Presentedby Capital One Bank, the honor roll recognizes student-athletes whocompeted in league championship sports during the fall semester andmaintained a 3.0 semester gpa while enrolled in a minimum of 12semester hours. Each Southland institution is responsible in selecting thestudent-athletes for the list.
