KANSAS CITY, Kan. — UTSA was among 329 women’s soccer programs to earn team academic award honors, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced on Tuesday. This accolade is bestowed upon teams that have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 or higher.
“All three years our young ladies have excelled in the classroom and it is a well-deserved honor” head coach Steve Ballard said. “They are all tremendous student-athletes and our coaching staff could not be prouder of them.”
The Roadrunners, who made the list last year, tallied a team gpa of 3.10 en route to collecting the honor for the third consecutive season. UTSA placed junior Chelsea Zimmerman on the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District VI third team this season. Since 2006, the soccer program has landed 60 players on the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll, had four earn Southland All-Academic honors and two have garnered ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic all-district accolades.
