— Outside hitter Kendra Rowland led a balanced UTSA offensive effort with 12 kills and the Roadrunners clinched a berth in this year's Southland Conference Tournament with a 25-21, 25-14, 25-23 victory at Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday.
UTSA improved to 11-17 overall (6-8 SLC) and will play in the postseason for the seventh consecutive season. Meanwhile, the Lady Lions dropped to 8-17 (4-10 SLC).
The Birds hit an impressive .258 for the match, while limiting Southeastern Louisiana to less than .100 in the final two sets and just .123 overall for the match.
Outside hitter Whitney Walls added nine kills, while setters AmberBrooks and Vickie Mundell had 19 and 17 assists, respectively.
Defensively, libero Kelsey Jewasko collected a match-best 15 digs and BrianaMason had five block assists to lead UTSA to a team total of eight.
Allison Jones, Lauren Mayer and Jessica Srajer led the Lady Lions with eight kills apiece.
UTSA will close out the regular season with a pair of home matches next week. The Roadrunners will host I-35 rival Texas State (17-12, 11-3 SLC) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in what will be the 58th meeting between the two programs.
