TULSA — Freshmen Martin Ayala and Tyler Brown represented the UTSA men's tennis team over the weekend at the D'Novo ITA All-American.
Ayala and Brown both received byes into the second round of singles play on Saturday. Ayala then defeated Philipp Eberhard of Hawai'i (6-3, 3-6, 11-9) and Brown also won his match against Alexander Cornelissen of Oregon, 6-3, 1-6 (9).
However, the pair fell in the third round of play on Sunday. Blake Boswell of Oklahoma defeated Brown in a long battle, 6-2, 3-6, 10-4, while Ayala made a valiant effort against the 11th seed, Vasko Mladenov of Texas, before falling short in a tie-breaker, 6-2, 3-6, 10-8.
The Roadrunners return to action this weekend when they host the UTSA Invitational.
