Senior Halee Hamm scored two goals in the 4-2 on Friday night.

NATCHITOCHES, La. — Senior Halee Hamm’s two goals gave the UTSA soccer team its first Southland Conference win of the season as the Roadrunners downed Northwestern State 4-2 Friday night in both teams league opener.

The Roadrunners even their record to 6-6 on the season and 1-0 in conference play, while extending their winning streak to three-matches. The Lady Demons dropped to 7-5 on the year and 0-1 in Southland action.

UTSA grabbed the early,1-0, lead when freshman Kara Hoffman received apass from junior Chelsea Zimmerman and Hoffman put it in to theleft corner of the goal at the 15–minute mark of the first half.

Senior Jenny Munoz found Hamm in the box, who then put it pastNorthwestern State’s goalkeeper  to make it a 2-0 advantage with 29:44in the frame.

Maddy Hall cut the deficit to one with her fifth goal of the season with less than five minutes to go in the stanza.

Hamm pushed the Roadrunners lead to 3-1 with her secondgoal of the match. Freshman Lindsay South passed the ball to freshmanClare Jakubowski, who then sent to the middle of the box where Hammbeat the Lady Demons goalie at the 61-minute mark of the second half.

Sophomore Taylor Padia gave the Birds a 4-1 cushion with her fourthgoal of the season at the 78-minute mark of the frame. Junior AllisonDillon was credited with the assist.

The Lady Demons made thing interesting toward the end of the match whenChelsea Gibbs was good on a free kick from 25 yards out to make it a4-2 match with less than four minutes to go.

Hamm led UTSA’s offensive attack with two goals, while Dillon tallied four shots and Padia and Zimmerman recorded three attempts. Freshman Dacia Webb posted five saves on the night en route to her sixth win of the season.

Northwestern State was led by Chelsea Gibbs, who tallied four shots and a goal, while three Lady Demons posted two attempts apiece.

UTSA concludes its two-match road trip this Sunday afternoon at Central Arkansas.
