SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA soccer team heads to San Marcos for an I-35 showdown against league-leading Texas State Friday night at Bobcat Soccer Complex.
The Roadrunners (9-8-2, 4-2-2 Southland) look to regroup after their 2-0 loss against Sam Houston last Friday and a tie versus Stephen F. Austin two days later. UTSA is 0-2-2 in its last four matches, since starting 4-0 in conference play. The Birds need a win to clinch a spot in next week’s Southland Conference Tournament on the campus of Northwestern State in Natchitoches, La.
Sophomore Taylor Padia leads the team with six goals this season, while junior Allison Dillon and senior Halee Hamm stand second and third, respectively, with five and four goals. Dillon tops the squad with five assists and junior Chelsea Zimmerman and freshman Clare Jakubowski rank second with four helpers.
Texas State clinched the regular season title with a pair of wins last weekend. The Bobcats needed overtime to collect the 1-0 victory against Stephen F. Austin last Friday and then handed Sam Houston State a 4-0 loss two days later.
