Roadrunners suffer 3-0 setback at Southeastern Louisiana

HAMMOND, La. — The UTSA soccer team had its school-record six-match winning streak snapped with a 3-0 loss at Southeastern Louisiana in Southland Conference action on Friday.

The Roadrunners were handed their first Southland setback to drop to 4-1 in conference play and 9-7 overall, while the Lady Lions improved to 10-3 on the year and 4-0 in league play.

UTSA had its scoreless streak snapped at 291 minutes when Southeastern's Jenna Oney got a pass from Candice Wallace and put it in the net at the 19-minute mark of the first half.

The Lions added a pair of goals in the second half. Maiya Cooper put SLU up, 2-0, when she beat UTSA’s goalkeeper on a one-on-one situation and knocked the ball into the net at the 59-minute mark. Lauren Stillians gave the Lions the 3-0 cushion with her third goal of the season with less than seven minutes to go in the match.

Senior Halee Hamm, freshman Kara Hoffman and sophomore Taylor Padia collected two shots apiece. Freshman goalie Dacia Webb collected five saves, all coming in the second half.

The Roadrunners return to action at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Nicholls.
