Senior Dana Mecke picked up her ninth Southland Conference Athlete of the Week award on Tuesday.
FRISCO — Senior Dana Mecke was named Southland Conference Cross Country Athlete of the Week by vote of the league’s sports information directors Tuesday. It marked the third straight and ninth career weekly award for the Smithson Valley High product.
Mecke, the reigning Southland Conference Champion, posted a top-10 finish at one of the nation’s top annual cross country meets — the Stanford Invitational — last Saturday. She toured her first 6k trail of the season in a time of 20:52 to finish seventh in a field of 179 runners. Her performance helped the Roadrunners place ninth in a field of 22 teams, including No. 5 Stanford.
The Roadrunners return to the course this Saturday, Oct. 3, when they travel to Seguin to compete in the TLU Bulldog Invitational.
