Sophomore Taylor Padia scored a pair of goals on Sunday.

SAN ANTONIO — Sophomore Taylor Padia netted two goals to give the UTSA soccer team a 4-0 win against Prairie View A&M on Sunday afternoon at the UTSA Recreational Complex.

The Roadrunners closed out their non-conference schedule with a 5-6 mark and extend their winning streak to two matches, while the Lady Panthers fell to 2-5 on the season.

Sophomore Bonnie Caulfield put UTSA on the scoreboard with her first goal of the season with less than two minutes to go in the first half. Senior Kari Weiland and sophomore Jacqueline Nance were credited with the assist.

Padia gave UTSA a 3-0 cushion with back-to-back goals at the 55-minute mark and 65-minute mark of the second half. Junior Chelsea Zimmerman added the fourth goal of the match when she received a pass from sophomore Brittany Wilson and beat the Lady Panthers goalkeeper at the 78-minute mark.

The Roadrunners posted a school-record 38 shots, including 19 on goal. Junior Allison Dillon and Padia led the way with four attempts apiece. Freshmen goalie Dacia Webb and Marlee Ross combined for the shutout to give the Roadrunners their fourth shutout of the season.

Jessica Garcia collected 15 saves on the day for Prairie View A&M.

UTSA opens Southland Conference play next week at Northwestern State on Friday and at Central Arkansas two days later.
