SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Rice in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon at the UTSA Recreational Complex.
The Roadrunners fell to 3-4 on the season, while the Owls improved to 2-4-1.
The Owls jumped to an early lead when Erin Scott put back a rebound from 10 yards out at the 10-minute mark of the first half.
Sophomore Taylor Padia had a chance to tie the match off a free kick,but Rice goalkeeper Meghan Erkel made a stop with less than four minutes to playin the frame.
Rice added its second goal off the foot of Kate Edwards, who laced one in from top of the box at the 73-minute mark of the second half.
Senior Halee Hamm and Padia led the Roadrunners with three shots apiece. Freshman goalkeeper Dacia Webb collected six saves on the day.
UTSA returns to action with a pair of home matches against SMU on Sept. 18, at 6 p.m. and Baylor two days later.
