FORT WORTH — UTSA women’s soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss at TCU Friday night in non-conference action.
Freshman Clare Jakubowski missed an opportunity to send the match into overtime, but her header was stopped by TCU goalkeeper Kelsey Walters at the 89-minute mark of the second half.
TCU (2-0) grabbed the early 1-0 lead when Kaylie Garcia connected on her first goal of the season at the 21-minute mark of the first half. Sophomore Katie Dugan had her shot attempt was stopped by TCU’s goalie with less than three minutes to go in the frame.
Freshman Dacia Webb set a career-high with nine saves, while allowing one goal on 28 shot attempts. Dugan, senior Halee Hamm and freshmen Leah Hendry, Clara Jakubowski and Lindsay South each tallied one shot apiece.
Jordan Calhoun led the Horned Frogs with six shots, while Garcia registered the lone goal of the match.
UTSA (1-2) continues its five-match road swing in a 1:30 p.m. match at No. 6 Texas A&M on Sunday.
