GARLAND ?
Freshman Shannon Jungman finished 25th to lead a solid effort by a quartet of Roadrunners at the Texas Women’s Open held Wednesday-Thursday at Eastern Hills Country Club.
Jungman carded a nine-over-par 149 in the 36-hole event to finish in a nine-way tie for 25th in the 131-player field. The Pflugerville native fired a two-over 72 on Thursday, including a 33 on the back nine that was highlighted by three birdies.
Former Roadrunner Allie Jordan, the 2009 Southland Conference Champion, tied for 45th with a 12-over 73-79=152, while junior Madison McClain was one stroke behind in 52nd with a 74-79=153. Sophomore Summer Batiste tied for 79th with a 78-80=158.
"It was great to see four of our student-athletes out there competing this week," head coach Carrie Cole said. "It was a strong field with players from good programs like SMU, Baylor, TCU and Kentucky plus numerous professionals. Shannon Jungman had a great final round to solidify a good showing, and I am very proud of how each of the girls played this week. So much can be learned in summer golf and these competitions will be great experience for next year."
