SAN ANTONIO ? Sophomores-to-be Cole Reveal and Kayla Pratt will head to the West Coast this weekend to compete in the USA Junior Track & Field Championships. The pair will compete in the 10,000 meters and 5k, respectively, on Saturday at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
Reveal is coming off a freshman outdoor campaign that saw him run primarily in middle distance events. He will run in the 10k at 8:55 p.m. (CT), which will mark the first long distance race of his career. The Frisco native posted top times of 3:55.32 in the 800m, 8:49.51 in the 3k and 15:48.63 in the 5,000 meters. During the indoor season, he raced to a fifth-place finish in the mile at the Southland Conference Indoor Championships (pr 4:20.67).
Meanwhile, Pratt will compete in the 5k at 8:35 p.m. (CT). The Comstock native posted top times of 4:49.11 in the 1,500 meters, 10:12.08 in the 3k and 18:14.66 in the 5,000m during her inaugural season. She was solid at last February's SLC Indoor, scoring 10.5 points. Pratt ran the opening leg on the conference champion distance medley relay team and placed second in the 5k (pr 17:31.34).

This weekend's event will serve as the selection meet for the 2009 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships, which will be held at Hasley Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad, from July 31-August 2. The top two finishers in each event this weekend will qualify for that meet.
