UTSA track & field campaigns come to end on Friday

NORMAN, Okla. ? The UTSA track & field teams saw their seasons come to an end on Friday at the NCAA Midwest Regional.

The Roadrunners, who had a total of eight athletes (seven men/one woman) competing in a half dozen events, were unable to advance into Saturday's running finals.

Junior All-American and defending Midwest Region Champion Teddy Williams raced to a 10.69 in the opening 100 meter preliminary heat, which ranked 25th overall in the 28-man field.

In the quarter, senior Gaston Griffin circled the John Jacobs Track & Field Complex oval in 51.31.

Freshman Southland Conference Champion Michael Cook, meanwhile, recorded a 3:59.23 in the second 1,500m prelim.

The quartet of sophomores Edmund Yeboah, John Matthews and Kevin Hunt and Griffin were unable to advance in the 400m relay following their 40.70 performance in the third and final heat.

UTSA's other competitor, junior Johnathan Whittaker, placed 14th in the high jump with his clearance of 6-8 ?/2.05m.

For the women, junior Jessica Jones clocked a 13.99 to finish fifth in the third of three heats in the 100m hurdles. Her time

was 15th overall in the field of 23.
