AUSTIN ?The UTSA women’s track & field team recorded five season-best performances at the 82nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, which was held Wednesday-Saturday at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Junior Jessica Jones, a two-time Southland Conference hurdles champion, clocked a 14.07 to finish fourth in her preliminary heat of the 100-meter hurdles and 21st overall out of 61 competitors. It was a marked improvement from her previous season-best time of 14.39 recorded at the UC Irvine Spring Break Invitational two weeks ago.
Sophomore Aimee Jonas placed 11th in the two-day heptathlon with 4,612 points in her first full multi-event competition of the outdoor campaign. The La Vernia native posted marks of 15.02 in the 100m hurdles, 5-4 ? in the high jump, 26-10 ? in the shot put, 26.40 in the 200m, 17-9 ? in the long jump, 100-9 in the javelin and 2:32.68 in the 800m.
Meanwhile, sophomore Jayde James posted a half-second improvement in the 800, covering the half-mile in 2:19.28 for 12th.
A pair of relay squads also got in on the action. The 4x800m relay quartet of James, freshmen Kayla Pratt and Courtney Nelson and sophomore Baylee Holder passed the baton to a 9:55.43 clocking for ninth place. The 4x400m relay team of sophomore Shavonne Armbrister, Jones, sophomore Kayla Thomas and freshman Rebecca Crain crossed in 3:53.82 for 36th.
The Roadrunners return to action next Saturday, April 11, when they travel to El Paso for the UTEP Invitational.
