LAKE CHARLES, La. ? Senior Allie Jordan shot rounds of 73 and 76 on Tuesday for a second-place total of 149 and she has led UTSA to second place in the team standings at the Southland Conference Championships, which is being played at the Lake Charles Country Club (par-72/5,956 yards).
The Roadrunners turned in a first-day scorecard of 309-303=612 and trail McNeese State by just one stoke. Meanwhile, Jordan is one stroke behind Lacy McKinley of McNeese State in the individual standings.
"Today was a lot of fun," first-year head coach Carrie Cole said. "I am soproud of this team for coming out and putting us in a great positionto win tomorrow. We are excited to get back out on the course again andget revenge on a few holes out there. It will be a exciting day."
Junior Madison McClain fired rounds of 78 and 75 and is tied for eighth place at 153, while senior Laura Baker sits in 13th after turning in a day-one total of 154 (81-73).
The two-day tournament concludes on Wednesday morning and the winner will advance to the NCAA Championships.
