FRISCO ? Junior Jessica Jones has been tabbed the Southland Conference Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Jones punched her ticket to the NCAA Midwest Regional in the 100-meter hurdles with a career-best performance at last Saturday's Texas Twilight in Austin. The Fresno native finished the race in a personal-best 13.74, which was two one-hundredths of a second quicker than her previous best. It was good enough for a third-place finish and ranks as the fastest time in the conference this season.
She also competed as part of the 1,600m and 400m relay teams, which finished sixth and eighth, respectively.
UTSA is taking this weekend off and will be back in action a week from today when it travels to Houston for the Rice Twilight.
