Sophomore Ashley Kappler had two hits on Tuesday.

SAN ANTONIO ? Nicole Wesley went 2-for-2 with three RBIs to help lead Baylor to an 8-0 victory over UTSA on Tuesday afternoon at Getterman Stadium.

Wesley had two of the Lady Bears’ eight hits in the game shortened to five innings due to the run rule, while Brette Reagan slugged a two-run homer to help Baylor improve to 34-17.

Sophomore Emily Humpal and freshman Ashley Kappler had a hit apiece for the Roadrunners (23-24).

Baylor plated all eight runs in the first three innings, including two in the bottom of the first. Wesley grounded the first pitch she saw through the left side of the infield and an error on a sacrifice bunt attempt by Bree Hanafin put runners at first and second with no outs. After a sac bunt by Reagan, Alex Colyer pushed the first run home on a ground ball to shortstop Caitlyn Ivy, who threw to third in time to gun down Hanafin. Colyer moved up to second on a wild pitch and scored on a two-out base hit to center by Megan Turk.

The Lady Bears tallied three runs in the second, highlighted by Reagan’s two-run homer to left, and increased their lead to 8-0 with three more in the third.

Meanwhile, starter Jenny Isham tossed three hitless frames to earn the win and run her record to 3-0. Brittany Turner surrerender the lone two hits in two innings of relief.

Sophomore Danye Holmes (9-10) took the loss for UTSA, giving up four earned runs on five hits in 1.2 frames.

The Roadrunners will conclude the home slate this weekend with a three-game Southland Conference series against Northwestern State.
