COLUMBIA, Mo. ? The UTSA men’s golf team closed out its regular season on Tuesday with a 12th-place showing at the UMB Bank/Mizzou Tigers Classic. The Roadrunners finished the two-day event with a final team scorecard of 926 (308-305-313).
Junior Ryan Kiel finished tied for 17th place after shooting rounds of 75, 74 and 75 (224) for his second top-20 showing of the spring. Meanwhile, senior Kyle Collins trailed Kiel by one stroke and ended his day tied for 23rd. Sophomore Lewis Chong logged a 237, while junior Emiliano Martinez registered a two-day total of 241.
Kansas State held off UT Arlington and New Orleans by two strokes (874) to capture the team title, while SMU’s Kelly Kraft defeated Sebastian MacLean of Xavier in the second playoff hole to win the individual championship.
UTSA returns to the course on April 27-29, for the 2009 Southland Conference Men’s Golf Championship in Kerrville.
