Freshman Pedroc Zanotelli was the lone Roadrunner to win on Saturday.

SAN ANTONIO ? The UTSA men’s tennis team lost to Louisiana-Lafayette, 4-1, on Saturday and finished the weekend with a split of its non-conference matches.

The Roadrunners saw their season record drop to 7-10 overall, while the Ragin' Cajuns improved to 11-4.

In doubles competition, junior Jorge Delgado and sophomore Daniel Moreiras dropped their No. 3 match with Arlen Domonev and Bradley Bristow, 8-5. The No. 1 duo of senior Andre Moreira and junior Rodrigo Morgado evened things up when they defeated Piotr Banas and Piotr Olechowski, 8-6, but ULL secured the point when Javier Pulgar-Garcia and Neil Schneider knocked out sophomore Max Stratmann and freshman Pedro Zanotelli at No. 2, 8-6.

Zanotelli got UTSA on the board early in singles competition when he beat Olechowski, 6-1, 6-4, at the No. 3 position.

However, the Ragin' Cajuns picks up wins the rest of the way to clinch the three-point victory.

Moreiras lost in straight sets at No. 4 to Schneider, 6-4, 6-2, Morgado dropped his No. 1 match with Banas, 6-3, 6-0, and Louisiana-Lafayette wrapped up the match when Domonev defeated Stratmann at No. 5, 6-4, 6-2.

The remaining two contests went unfinished.

“I’m always disappointed after a loss,” head coach Dr. Oliver Trittenwein said. “ULL is a really good team though. They are very disciplined and very well-coached. I knew it was going to be a tough match from the beginning.”

UTSA wraps up its season-long five-match home stand at 2 p.m. next Saturday, April 4, against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
