UTSA heads to Bayou State for Carter Plantation

SAN ANTONIO ? UTSA men’s golf team will travel to Springfield, La., for the Carter Plantation, which begins on Monday at the Carter Plantation Golf Course (par 72/7,049 yards). The first and second rounds will be played on the first day, followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday.

“Some tournaments have dual purposes and this is one of them," head coach John Knauer said. "The conference tournament will be played at this course next year, so seeing the course will help us in that respect. I am pleased with how practice has been going this week. We have made some good adjustments and I am looking for us to compete at a higher level this week.”

Twelve teams make up the field at the tournament. Austin Peay, Houston Baptist, Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, McNeese State, Nicholls, host Southeastern Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State and Western Kentucky with join the Roadrunners on the course.

UTSA finished in 14th place with final team scorecard of 903 (309-299-295) in its last event, the Louisiana Classic (March 9-10). Senior Kyle Collins bounced back in the final round with a four-under-par 68 after shooting 75 and 80 in the first two rounds and the San Antonio native ended his day tied for 38th with a overall total of 223.
