WACO ? Senior Laura Baker is tied for fourth and the UTSA women’s golf team is tied for fourth after 36 holes (316-306?622) at the Baylor Invitational, which is being played at the Twin Rivers Golf Club (par 72/6,349 yards).
"The team fought back and rebounded well this afternoon after the morning round," head coach Carrie Cole said. "We just had too many big numbers in the first round, but this is a tough course and you can't let up or lose focus. We need to stay patient tomorrow and are looking forward to getting back out there."
Baker shot rounds of 79 and 73 (152) and she joins three others tied for ninth just four strokes back from first-day leader Kate Ackerson of SMU.
Her two-round total helped the Roadrunners to a share of fourth place in the team standings with a scorecard of 316-306-622. Illinois State leads the team standings after firing off 308-307-615.
Senior Allie Jordan is tied for 13th with a 76-78-154, while junior Shelly Martinez trails Jordan by 3 strokes (157) and is tied for 27th. Freshman Shannon Jungman and junior Madison McClain are tied for 39th and 47th, respectively.
UTSA returns to the course on Tuesday morning for the final 18 holes.
