LAFAYETTE, La. ? The UTSA men’s golf team shot a final-round 295 on Tuesday and finished in 14th place with final team scorecard 903 (309-299-295) at the 24th
annual Louisiana Classic.
“We played very well early but faded toward the
end of the day,” first-year head coach John Knauer said. “All of the guys
turned better scores. Kyle shot a 68, while Emiliano
fired a 72 and our 295 score was sixth best on the day. It wasn't awesome, but
we were competitive.”
Senior Kyle Collins bounced back in the final round with a four-under-par 68 after shooting 75 and 80 in the first two
rounds on Monday. The San Antonio native ended his day tied for 38th with a
overall total of 223. Junior Emiliano Martinez tied Collins
with a two-day scorecard of 223.
Meanwhile, freshman Lewis Chong wrapped up his
tournament run four strokes behind Collins and Martinez and finished tied
for 57th. Freshman Payne Wilkie registered a three-round tally of 233,
while freshman Isaac Idstein logged in a 234.
