Junior Holly Phillips helped UTSA continue its perfect run of success on Friday.

EL PASO ? The UTSA women’s tennis team continued its perfect run of success on Friday afternoon, as they blanked Western New Mexico for its third consecutive 7-0 victory.

The Roadrunners (3-2) made an early statement by collecting the doubles point with three easy wins.

Senior Karen Scida and freshman Micaela Silva shut out Emily Lampman and Elizebeth Wade, 8-0, at the top spot. Senior Natalie Wallin and junior Holly Phillips also blnaked their opponent, Nikolina Vukaden and Jamie McKenna, at the No. 3 position. Senior Monika Drabkova and sophomore Caroline Dedering defeated Izelle Oliver and Coralyn Waide, 8-3, to complete the sweep.

UTSA continued its solid play in singles matches to complete the whitewashing. Phillips blanked McKenna in straight sets and Dedering followed suit against Elizabeth Waide. Coralyn Wade lost to Silva, 6-0, 6-1, while Scida, Wallin and Drabkova all won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.

The Roadrunners head up I-10 to Las Cruces, N.M., on Saturday in search of their fourth win in a row when they play New Mexico State in a noon (CT) match.
