SAN ANTONIO ? The UTSA softball team will open the 2009 campaign withfive games in College Station this weekend. The Roadrunners will faceTulsa and No. 5 Texas A&M, the 2008 NCAA Runner-Up, at 10:30 a.m.and 3:30 p.m., respectively, on both Friday and Saturday in the AggieClassic held at the Aggie Softball Complex. UTSA then faces PrairieView A&M in a neutral site contest at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday in agame that is not part of the Aggie Classic.

Series Histories: UTSA owns a combined 15-27 record against its three weekend opponents. The Roadrunners are 7-1 all-time against Tulsa (all neutral sites), winning the last meeting, 8-2, on Feb. 8, 2004, in San Marcos. UTSA has played Prairie View A&M twice, winning both halves of a doubleheader (10-2, 15-0) on April 6, 2007, in San Antonio. The Roadrunners trail the all-time series against Texas A&M, 26-6, including 16-4 mark in games played in College Station. The Aggies won the last meeting, 7-1, on Feb. 18, 2007, and the last UTSA victory was a 3-2 nail-biter on Feb. 3, 2000.
SLC Preseason Polls: UTSA has been picked to finish third in the Southland Conference Preseason Polls by both the head coaches and sports information directors. The Roadrunners picked up one first-place vote and tallied 90 points in the coaches’ poll for third behind preseason favorite and defending SLC Tournament Champion Stephen F. Austin and defending regular season champ Texas State. UTSA garnered a pair of first-place votes and 84 total points in the SIDs’ poll for third behind SFA and Texas State.
Trio Named To Preseason All-SLC Team: Junior Rudi Cantu has been named to the Southland Conference Preseason First Team at second base, while senior outfielder Leanne Risberg and sophomore pitcher/designated player Dany? Holmes are second-team selections.
