SAN ANTONIO ? The UTSA men’s golf team continue its spring schedule when it hosts the 14th annual UTSA Oak Hills Invitational beginning Monday, Feb. 16, at Oak Hills Country Club (6,691 yards/par 72). The two-day tournament begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Monday and concludes on Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
“After the New Orleans tournament, our guys are looking forward to playing at home,” first-year head coach John Knauer said. “We have two guys in Kyle Collins and Ryan Kiel who have been playing well lately, but also have spent a lot of time playing golf at Oak Hills. I know they are capable of putting up some good scores this week. We have had some great practices these last two days and were able to address par 5s and the short game, because those are two areas that can help a team win this tournament.”
Fourteen teams make up the field, including 12 that competed in last year's tournament. Air Force, Central Arkansas, DePaul, Illinois State, Louisiana-Monroe, McNeese State, Oklahoma, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas Tech, Texas State, UT Arlington and Wichita State will join UTSA on the course.
Last season, the Roadrunners finished eighth with a score of 303-297-300 890.
