NEW ORLEANS, La. ? The UTSA men’s golf team capped off its first spring tournament with a 302-307-296 905 to finish in seventh place despite battling rainy and windy conditions on the final day of the Mardi Gras Invitational held at the TPC Louisiana Golf Course.
“I was impressed with today’s performance and how they handle the terrible conditions throughout the day,” head coach John Knauer said. “The one thing I stress to them was to be patience out there. Two of our guys did that as Kyle ended the day even-par and Ryan was two-under-par. This was a good warm up event as we into our tournament next week.”
Senior Kyle Collins headed into the final day tied for ninth place. The San Antonio native recorded an even-par in final round to finish tied for sixth place with a three-round tally of 219. Meanwhile, junior transfer Ryan Kiel made up 13 spots in the third round with a two-under-par score to end his day tied for 12th place with a two-day total of 222. Junior Emiliano Martinez carded rounds of 78-81-74 233, while sophomore Lewis Chong closed out his day one stroke behind Martinez.
