Anderson collects Southland Conference Player of the Week honors


Senior Onika Anderson led UTSA to two wins last week.

FRISCO ? UTSA senior forward Onika Anderson became the third different Roadrunner this season to earn Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors, the league office announced on Monday.

Anderson averaged a double-double of 15.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in leading UTSA to a pair of conference wins last week at Sam Houston State and against Southeastern Louisiana.

The Pine Bluff, Ark., native was instrumental in extending the team's winning streak to five games (winners of 12 of 13 overall). Anderson was 15-of-34 from the floor (44.1 percent). She led the Roadrunners with 19 points and 14 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the year in the come-from-behind win at Sam Houston State last Wednesday. Anderson followed that performance with a dozen points and seven boards in the thrilling one-point victory against Southeastern Louisiana last Saturday. 
 
UTSA (14-7, 7-1 SLC) travels to Central Arkansas for a 6 p.m. contest on Wednesday.
