? Final results

Senior Will Vese just missed his personal-best in the 60m hurdles on Saturday.

HOUSTON ? Senior Will Vese improved his NCAA provisional 60-meter hurdles time by four one-hundredths of a second to highlight the UTSA men's track & field team's two days of action at this weekend's Houston Invitational/Multis.

Vese recorded a time of 7.86 in finishing second to former Texas standout Jermaine Cooper, but the Houston native was the top collegiate finisher. He just missed his personal best by one one-hundredth of a second and the mark was his second NCAA provisional clocking of the season. His 8.00 time in the prelims was second only to Cooper.

Freshman Jeffery Herron continued his strong opening season as a Roadrunner, finishing second as top collegian in the high jump with a career-best leap of 6-10 ? (2.09m). The mark tied him for third on the school's all-time performers chart.

Freshman Michael Cook had a solid meet, posting fourth-place finishes in both the 800m and mile. Cook's day began with the fourth-fastest mile performance in school history (4:17.59), an improvement of more than three seconds from his previous personal best. Two hours later, the Magnolia crossed the tape in 1:56.60, which was just four tenths of a second behind first-place finisher Brian Wall of Stephen F. Austin.

Freshman Eric Doll and junior Alton St. Rose posted the team's other top-five finishes of the meet. Doll placed fourth in the 5,000m with his time of 15:51.44, while St. Rose skipped 47-6 ? (14.48m) to finish fifth in the triple jump.

UTSA will compete at two different meets next weekend. A contingent of Roadrunners sprinters will head to New York City to compete at the prestigious New Balance Invitational, while the remainder of the team will return to the Bayou City for the Houston All-Comers meet. The two events will be the squad's final tune-up for the Southland Conference Indoor Championships, which are scheduled for Feb. 20-21 in Houston.
