Roadrunners men back in action this weekend

SAN ANTONIO ? The 1-1 UTSA men’s tennis team will visit the Pacific Northwest this weekend, with stops in Eugene and Portland, Ore.

The Roadrunners will face Oregon (2-1) at 1 p.m. (CT) on Saturday and then will move up the coast to Portland to face the Lions (2-1) at noon the following afternoon.

“We’ve never played either team in this format,” 10th-year head coach Dr. Oliver Trittenwein said. "We have faced some players from both of those teams in individual tournaments but never played them in a dual match. Looking at some of the matchups, we definitely have an opportunity to beat the Ducks. Portland had a really big win this past weekend and they’re a very tough team.”

UTSA split their first two matches of the spring last week, beating Prairie View A&M, 7-0, on Thursday before getting blanked at Rice the next night.

Junior Rodrigo Morgado led the Roadrunners against the Panthers, teaming up with sophomore Daniel Moreiras to win their doubles match, 8-1. Morgado then won his singles contest, 6-2, 6-2, to give UTSA an early 2-0 advantage. His performance earned him Southland Conference Player of the Week honors on Tuesday.
