FRISCO ? Junior Rodrigo Morgado, who posted a 1-1 mark in singles and doubles play last week, was named Southland Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Morgado recorded wins in singles and doubles competitions in the Roadrunners’ 7-0 shutout at Prairie View A&M in Thursday's season opener. The Balneario Camboriu, Brazil, native notched his first victory of the season alongside sophomore Daniel Moreiras at No. 2 doubles when the duo defeated Jose Garcia and Karl Nyatoti, 8-1. Morgado later defeated Jorge Chavez at No. 1 singles, 7-6, 6-3, to finish off a seven-point sweep by the Roadrunners.
UTSA continues play this weekend in Oregon. The Roadrunners take on Oregon on Saturday and Portland the following day.
