ARLINGTON ? UT Arlington used balance scoring and snapped UTSA’s seven-game winning streak with a 76-59 victory in Southland Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Texas Hall.

UTSA began the second half on an 11-7 run to make the score 43-34 with 14:26 to go. However, the Mavericks extended their lead to 16 on Dixon’s put back with 11:32 left. UTA stretched its lead to 20, its largest of the game, following Kristina Grace's pull-up jumper at the eight-minute mark.

The Roadrunners mounted a small rally on sophomore guard Amber Gregg’s back-to-back 3-pointers and Gibbs three-point play to get within 11, but the Mavericks ended the game with a 15-9 run for the 17-point victory.

UT Arlington jumped out to a 10-2 lead when Nelson connected on a jumper from the left wing with 14:41 to go in the first half. Anderson’s layup made the score 15-6 at the 13-minute mark and the Roadrunners cut the deficit to five (24-19) on senior forward Ryba Pawlaczyk’s corner jumper with 7:51 showing on the clock. UTA used an 11-6 run to close out the frame and it went to the locker room with a 36-23 halftime lead.

UTSA returns to the Convocation Center for an SLC West Division matchup against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24. The contest will be televised by Time Warner Cable on channel 50.
