| Amber Gregg |
FRISCO ? Sophomore guard Amber Gregg was named Southland Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. Gregg, who helped lead UTSA to consecutive wins against Tulsa and at McNeese State last week, picked up the first weekly honor of her career.
The Austin native averaged 21 points and 2.5 steals per game, connected on 8-of-17 from downtown (47.1 percent) and was good on 10-of-14 attempts (71.4 percent) from the free throw line.
Gregg opened the week by scoring a career-high 25 points on the strength of six 3-pointers in the 63-54 win against Tulsa. She followed that performance five days later with a game-high-tying 17 points in 40 minutes of action in the 61-50 victory at McNeese State. That triumph extended the Roadrunners' winning streak to six games.
UTSA hosts Nicholls (0-12, 0-1 SLC) in its SLC home opener at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
